'67 FLH Sneak Peek

Justin posted up some pictures of his '67 shovel progress on his blog.  Can't wait to see the outcome, shaved wide glide, some cool narrow T-bars, looking real nice.

The secret pan project is moving along. I keep finding all kind of funny stuff as I proceed, half assed frame repairs, missing motor parts, etc. clutch and primary is next on the list. more to come..............

I can spend around 95% of every day, dreaming of panhead choppers.  There must be some kind of complex involved with that.

'69 Sportster Progress #2

Dave senior came over today to help me with a few things this afternoon. Pulled the motor out of the frame so I can have it patched up.I also pulled everything off the frame so I can cut it and weld on the hardtail. I used a little engine degreaser to clean it up a little. Not an overly exciting update. But progress none the less

BSA frame fix

The Austin guys haven't been the only busy chopper builders! Here's a little run down of some work I did to Josh's BSA frame today.

This frame is a stock front loop with an old weld on hardtail. The axle plates were originally set up for using a triumph rear wheel which would be fine but the slots were pretty mashed up and not usable.

I started by marking the center line of the axle and scribing a good line.

Then I laid out and scribed the way I wanted the axle plates to look with the correct size for each side (.100 difference from axle to brake side). I also marked the radius on the end of the axle plate to get rid of the old slots.

Fired up the plasma cutter for the main cut and then used a carbide burr on a die grinder to smooth it up before filing.

Ended up with a nice looking pair of axle plates that are cut just right for the quick change hub he's using and shorten the wheelbase about 2".

Changes

I picked up an inline big twin springer this week and fulfilled some personal chopper dreams.  The bike sits completely different, and while I dug the previous chopper stance (9 inches over), this is more my look and vibes.

Nick's Slabside Shovel

So after 5 months, Nick fired up his '68 shovel yesterday.  It's one rad machine, we took turns cruising it up and down his street with no head light or tail light at around midnight.  Dave Sr. and I headed back over today to snap some photos and do some more cruising and tuning.  This is one machine to be proud of.

Chopper Weekend

Between yesterday and today, there has been alot of bike progress made in these neck of the woods.  The secret pan project moves on and more chopper activities to come.
